  • According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), Reiki is classified as a Biofield Medicine. A recent national survey on Americans use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that 1.1% of the 31,000 participants had used Reiki in the previous year. (1)


  • Reiki is used in 25 hospitals nationwide. Within these facilities, Reiki is proving useful in emergency rooms, operating rooms, neonatal units, OB/GYN units, oncology units, organ transplantation care units, elderly care, pediatric units, psychiatric units, infectious disease clinics, rehabilitation, hospice and palliative care centers.   • Used in conjunction with conventional cancer treatments, Reiki is reported to ease the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, improve immune function, ease anxiety, and support well-being. (2).

  • The Hartford Hospital's Outcome Measurements show that Reiki can induce the "relaxation response", and diminish anxiety, pain, nausea and fatigue. The physiological changes resulting from the "relaxation response" are know to boost the immune system and support well-being. (3)

  • Reiki treatments result in a statistically-significant decrease in the symptoms of psychological depression and self-perceived stress. These treatments are shown to have a long-term, positive effect on well-being.

  • Research has shown that Reiki can reduce muscle tension, anxiety, pain, nausea, and fatigue. Reiki has also been proven to accelerate wound healing and provide a greater sense of health and well-being. (4)
